I would not return to this Hotel again. We stayed last year on Sardinia in a "Delphina" chain Hotel that was wonderful. This management should visit them and learn a lot!!!
Hotel
we are an English couple, living in Germany and have been to Tuscany before. We chose the Marinetta because we wanted a good 4 star Hotel on this part of the coast, for a beach and town holiday. This is NOT a good Hotel for couples. There are many Italian Families there with a lot of children, from baby age to 10 years. The Hotel allow the children to rule, even in the evenings in the bar areas and Restaurants. It is very loud every evening with children screaming and running around. We were also extremely annoyed, as we returned to our room one afternoon to find workmen in there (unknown to us) fitting new lighting on the balcony. The Manageress said this was necessary work (there are already lights on all balconies)!!! We protested vehemently, and no more was done in our room. However, every day thereafter, there was loud drilling from 1000hrs until 1830hrs making it impossible to return to the rooms for a rest. Unbelievably disgusting treatment from management of a 4 star Hotel. The food was excellent, and the service excellent, other than management. The rooms were well fitted, other than too little hanging space, and very narrow balconies. Beds changed every 2 days and towels every day.
Lage
The beach is reached by walking through very pleasant pine trees for approx 10 minutes, and the private beach is clean and well appointed with many new sunbeds and umbrellas. The beach is not good for children as it gets deep very sharply. There are a few shops and cafes in the area, but it is a new area and still being developed. We rented a car from Pisa airport, and it was a 45 min. drive. There is no entertainment in the area except for childrens play areas.
Service
The personnel in the Hotel were very friendly and good. Many could not speak either English or German. Even some of the resception staff could not speak either English or German. Rooms were kept very clean. The check in was not great, we were not told in detail how to use our chip bracelet (which opened our door and operated the electricity). This meant, it took us a full 15 minutes before understanding why the lights kept going out. We complained about drilling work being done on our balcony without being asked, and were given a stupid explanation by the Manageress, and then given a free a la carte meal as compensation. The work and noise continued in many other rooms all day and every day however.
Gastronomie
There was 1 Restaurant for all meals. Breakfast was only fried eggs every morning. There was no opportunity for scrambled, boiled or an omelette. The bread was not good, and often broken up in pieces. The evening meal was excellent with many varieties of meat, fish, vegetarian, and pasta. Th atipasta buffet was also wonderful. There was a free bottle of wine on each table every night, but we did wonder what happened to the wine that was not drunk??? Was it all put into a bucket and then bottled refilled??? The bottles were all uncorked already on the table. You had to pay 10 euro per person extra if you wanted local speciality dishes! Not good when you are paying enough anyway for a 4 star Hotel!! The Restaurant was very, very loud as there were hundreds of babies screaming the whole time. They could separate the families from the couples.
Sport & Unterhaltung
There was a fitness room, that was very good. 1 pool and a children's pool. The brochure said there was also a family pool. This was still being built, nowhere near finished, and also added to the building noise there. The pool bar was good but you could not sit there evenings as there was table football also, and this was played with constantly by screaming children. BADLY PLACED: The indoor bar was a few worn out chairs and tables in the reception area, very bad condition. We only had 2 evenings of entertainment, and they were ok, but not special.
Zimmer
Rooms were not big enough, also hanging space very limited. Balconies were small and narrow. There were bath robes and slippers supplied. There was a modern TV with some German stations. As said, the noise from the drilling of new lighting on the balconies waas TERRIBLE, and not necessary. This should have been done between seasons. We had an Elegance room, that was ok'ish. I would not have liked to have a room in the older part of the Hotel. New towels every day, and beds changed every 2 days.
